Week 5.1
This class we dedicated to working on our video on After Effects. We have played around with some of the illustrations and have decided what we will be using in each scene.
So far we have achieved half of our video and have placed it on what we have achieved with the website so far to see how well they link together and are quite happy with the result.
Our first scene in the video shows our title 'E-WASTE' drop down from the top of our screen onto the pile of broken electronics and then leave the screen together.
Scene 1.
Scene 2.
We then move onto our next major scene which shows an illustration of a globe expand and full up a large portion of the screen. The words 'Welcome to Guiyu, China' then type into the screen. The shape of China then is highlighted in red on the globe and then spins around with the globe while expanding to eventually cover the whole screen.
Scene 3.
Scene 4.
Scene 5.
We then introduce our protagonist Jack. He is one of the many child slave labourers who digs in China to collect materials that go into the electronic devices we use. Having this link to Jack shows the harsh reality of what most of us are unaware of - which in theory should make the audience think twice when they go to throw out their electronics (microwaves, phones, fridges, phones, ipads, remotes, laptops etc).
It shows Jack waving and introducing himself in a bad surrounding environment with other diggers visible in the background.
Scene 6.
This is how far we have come so far with our motion video. However, we have done the illustrations that will complete it.
We have also found all the research that will be included in the script of our video.
Below are some screenshots of the pages we have done so far for our website:

We have also met with one of our friends who studies a music degree at Massey and have been given permission by him to use one of his composed pieces for our motion video.
We have gotten him to sign a release form to show we have got full permission and rights to this piece.
