Week 6.2

Today was final hand-in and presentations. The class showed each other their websites and videos and gave a small critique. 

We were happy with our responses and overall outcome of the website and motion video. 

RATIONAL:

Our topic for our website and video was E-waste and recognises how by simply recycling our old electronics you can save the environment, third world countries and landfills. We opted to use a gif on our opening page in order to create emphasis and to explain our topic on the outset. We then have a modal that when opened displays our video. We thought it was important to have this on the opening page to immediately describe our concept from the outset, we then used a different modal in the top left corner, with a hamburger menu, opting for courier new and courier as our font and backup font. We chose this font for our entire website as it appears electronic, whilst also being user friendly on most browsers. The more facts and stats pages have images with basic info on them and modals down the bottom with more info inside, to keep the design cohesive, as well as buttons to share the page to social media (if it was live). We then opted for our “other resources” page  to utilise a masonry grid (with the colouring and shape linking to the rest of our design) and display other websites the user can go to, to both educate themselves more, as well as find where they can recycle their own e-waste.
